Academic Affairs Update: New Professional Development Resource

Sent on behalf of Dr. Neva J. Specht, Senior Vice Provost of Faculty Policies and Development.

Dear Faculty and Staff,

The Division of Academic Affairs is pleased to announce that we have secured a universitywide membership with Academic Impressions, an organization specializing in professional development resources for higher education faculty and staff. This resource will provide App State employees with access to a host of training resources designed by and for higher education professionals.

The Academic Impressions platform provides easy access to live and recorded virtual training, webcasts, on-demand learning, virtual conferences and individually customized learning plans — all via single sign-on using your App State credentials. These professional development opportunities cover a full range of higher education topics relevant to faculty and staff and their professional roles within the university. Most of the content is provided at no cost to your unit, and for additional options, including in-person conferences and premium “boot camp” courses, our membership includes discounted pricing.

Membership is active and materials are available now

You can learn more about our partnership by visiting the Academic Impressions page on the Academic Affairs website. From there, you can sign into the App State account page using your App State credentials to explore the range of offerings and register for specific courses.

Customized introductory Open House Sessions for App State

In addition, faculty and staff can register for one of three virtual open houses led by our dedicated Academic Impressions account manager, Breanne Holloway. These sessions will provide an overview of the professional development offerings available and answer any questions you may have. Open house dates are:

  • Tuesday, Feb. 6 at 11 a.m.

  • Wednesday, Feb. 14 at 4 p.m.

  • Friday, Feb. 23 at 10 a.m.

We are confident that access to robust higher ed-focused professional development will enable our faculty and staff to better serve our students and advance the educational mission of App State, and look forward to supporting your ongoing professional development experiences.

Sincerely,

Neva J. Specht, Ph.D
